Audience Feedback

Getting audience feedback is key within creating a magazine. Before distributing an issue it is essential that not only the editors approve but it is shown to fulfil its aim. My task of creating a magazine of a specific genre also would need audience feedback, to show any changes or improvements that I could have made when completing the task. Here is a questionnaire I created and handed out to 16 people, after them viewing my magazine. The purpose of this was to highlight my strengths, weaknesses and what I could improve on.

I handed the questionnaire out to 8 females and 8 males. This was because my magazine was created to be unisex so using a equal number or males to females, will give an insight into their feedback and if I was successful in this. I also handed it out to my target age group, which the magazine was created for (15-24 years), to again see if I was successful in representing this target audience.
After all 16 questionnaires were completed, I analysed each answer and compared. Here is an example of a completed questionnaire I handed out:

This Questionnaire was completed by the same, as to who did my first questionnaire saying Indie-Pop was there favourite genre of music. Therefore, also by at being 17, being specific to my target audience. This feedback had a major importance on the magazine then to see my target audience's response to whether the magazine was suitable. Here I recored some of the statistical answers visually, to see the difference and compare the feedback given.

This bar-chart, compares the answer to the question on whether they feel my magazine portrays and represents the Genre well. I feel 14 out of 16 was very successful, showing the majority thought my magazine fulfilled its aim in being Indie-Pop. The 2 that disagreed were both male, this shows that the magazine may have been more appealing if the featured article was a male artist, or had a male model on the cover, or covered more male based headlines.

The Pie chart, again compares the feedback of whether the magazine appealed enough to the individual to buy. This shows that 13 People agreed and said yes they would purchase the magazine, and 3 saying no. The three that said no were also in a higher age range withing the target age group, showing the magazine may show slight hints of being aimed for the lower fraction of my target age range, rather than the wider amount.

I also asked within the questionnaire to describe the magazine in 3 words, here show some of the answers:
'Effective, Simplistic, Direct!'
'Engaging, Original, Attractive'
'Classy, Edgy, Cool'
'Simple yet Effective'

I  also asked if there were any further comments they wished to add, again here show some of the answers:
'Could include more FREE and luring features'
'Fantastic layout'
'Good images, dramatic effects'
'Colour scheme could be more daring'
'Very Professional'

Overall, I feel my magazine was a success, which is shown through mainly positive feedback with helpful criticism to what I could have improved on or with more time focused more on. For example from the feedback I see that I could have improved more upon the 'luring' in of my audience, yet with the main appearance being good and suitable. Also showing that the task of creating a target audience was successful and does aim/appeal to them. It is also good to receive positive feedback after working on the Magazine, and I am proud of the outcome.
